Design and
construction
Our bags are made extremely strong. We
use top quality, thick, 9-10 ounce leather for our bags. We
then reinforce the leather with plastic throughout the bag.
The backs are thermo-formed from 3/16" thick ABS plastic and made
to fit around shocks, axle covers, ect., and accept our brackets.
The gussets
and faces are reinforced with 1/8" and 3/16" thick HDPE plastic.
The lid liners are thermo-formed from 1/8" thick ABS plastic and have
a slight "dome" in them. This is the shape most
Saddle Bag lids
have when they are new. But as you have probably seen, other
bag lids sag down into a reverse dome with age. This will never
happen with our bags We also carry the plastic down the valance
of the lid. This increases the strength and gives us a solid
place to rivet the straps and lock mount to. This
cleans up the appearance of the bag by eliminating the rivets showing
on the outside.
Our bags are very easy to
put on. Just line up the holes in the brackets with the "buttons"
on the strut, push straight on, and tighten cam levers.

Some of our models have long, over the lid
cargo straps. These are very handy for extra capacity without
having to get out the bungy cords.
Many of our
Saddlebags include
a pair of adjustable carrying straps that snap into the D-rings mounted
on the gussets. They adjust short, for a handle, or lengthen
out for a shoulder strap.

The stainless steel "hook" shown in this
picture is rotated by the key into the stainless
steel loop that is riveted to the front of the bag.
With the protective flap lifted up you can access the handles and lock the rear one down (padlock not included). This photo also shows the stainless steel loop on the front of the bag that the lid lock hook gets rotated into.
With the protective flap velcroed down, there is nothing sharp inside to scratch a coat.
